Clinical Supervision and Consultation

I offer clinical supervision and consultation for mental health therapists.

I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor in WA, and able to supervise associates working towards full licensure. I also offer consultation for fully licensed therapists who are looking for brief consultation around a particular topic or client, or who are looking for regular, ongoing consultation for their practice. I meet with folks via Zoom, with limited availability for in person meetings.

My supervision approach and how I think about psychotherapy is influenced by a psychodynamic orientation that draws from contemporary relational psychoanalytic theory. I’ve been there…as a new therapist, we so often want to know what it is we can do to quickly help our clients feel better while also feeling like we’re doing something! While practical interventions can be helpful, the work of psychotherapy takes time for meaningful change to happen. Part of how I work with supervisees is helping you slow down; slow down and deeply listen for what is unspoken and happening between you and your client. Together, we’ll help you grow into a theory of mind, meaning, how and why you think change occurs, as this will serve as an anchor throughout your career. We’ll also think together about how to determine whether or not a client is a good fit. In the beginning stages of growing a practice, there can be a lot of pressure to see everyone as you begin to grow income. While stretching yourself has its place, part of preventing burn out is being able to say no to certain clients. We’ll learn how your specific internal experience speaks to fit. I believe all theory is auto-biographical, that the ways in which we are drawn to work as a therapist often have echoes of our own story. Ultimately my goal is to help you grow into more of who you are as clinician, rather than imposing a particular way of working or being. I always welcome feedback from supervisees on whether or not what I offer or how I approach something does or doesn’t feel right.

If you like to know about my clinical experience and background, see my About Me page.

If I am supervising the client hours in your private practice, I require that we meet every week for the first 3-4 months. After that time, we can discuss meeting every other week. My fee for supervision is $180 per 50 minute session.

For those working in community mental health, I offer a discounted rate for supervision and consultation. Please discuss with me what you are looking for, and together we will figure out a fee that works for both of us.
